Just a few things I'd like to share with you... (Forgive me if I ramble... :) )
First up: In case you're wondering... I write "LOVE" stories -- but that doesn't always fall under the title of "Romance." For example: When I work on "Return to Hell" - a supernatural thriller - I'm not thinking romance, :) but I am thinking LOVE and SACRIFICE and LAYING DOWN ONE'S LIFE FOR A FRIEND, and so on... (Just so you know; I hate gore, so I don't write it.) I'm a Christian, yes, but, more often than not, my main characters aren't. My faith will come through, but that's not preaching, that's just my heart, and that's what the love (and accepting, and lack of judgement from supporting characters who believe) comes from. If any of my characters take on religiosity and 'holier-than-thou' attitudes, they will be dealt with in one way or another; they exist to give support and hope and whatever else is needed; never to preach or condemn... Also, if there's one thing I've learned as a Christian, it's LIFE STILL HAPPENS -- THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY... and so on. Because of this, I place my characters in 'real life' situations, with the hope of them finding their way out. Okay, so... my soon-to-be-released novel *THE PATH CHOSEN* is a TIME TRAVEL story and not based on a 'real life' occurrence, lol, but the issues the main characters face are. :)*2 women, 3 men, 1 path...* it's not always gonna be pretty. I tell you this because I want you to know my writing may not be what you're expecting... Upon reading my stories, you may be expecting 'purity' where I've given 'messy reality'. Some may not wish to go near my novels because they may be worried that I, a Christian, will preach or judge rather than offer the hope and encouragement we all need in life... I guess what I'm saying is, my stories and I may not be what you're expecting... so hold on to the thought "It's all about the LOVE" and keep reading. :) And before you read 'me', don't forget to check out which genre my story falls under. Be warned... ;) I don't write one set genre. Also... Despite what some may believe, and what I wish, Christians aren't immune to pain and tragedy and so on. We're human. We face life every day, the same as everyone else, and I want my characters to face such things as well, while giving them what I've been given through Christ: Hope. Not all my stories will fall under the title 'Christian', not all will be about the romance, some will appear dark, but I set every story on the same foundations: LOVE and HOPE. My characters will face tragedy, they will hurt, and some may not make it to the end of the story... but there is always love in some form, and there will always be hope. It's up to them whether or not they accept it. <3 |
