The Path Chosen: It's all about love, hope, acceptance for self and others, life beyond *now*, and finding peace to help carry you through every *now* that comes your way -- in this life and the next. It's about choices, it's about the world's influence, it's about respect for everyone, and it's about a love far more empowering and comforting, free and freeing, than many of us have been able to find deep within the cracked pieces of our own heart. As a writer, and as a person, my desire in life is to reach hurting hearts through everything I write -- be them male or female -- and offer hope, acceptance, and love. I long for every reader to find their heart within the pages of these stories -- be that this time travel/trading places story, a romance, or a thriller -- and find greater hope for their future, greater peace within themselves, and a greater awareness of their true worth. My aunty called me the other day, after she had finished reading The Path Chosen, telling me of her tears upon reading this novel, and I was humbled by this, but my tears broke forth when she shared that she had felt so uplifted by this story, and the truths and hope within, she dared to walk with greater faith. Love. Hope. Acceptance. We all search for these things. We all need these things. My hope is to help someone somewhere receive them, embrace them, and rise into a brighter future with them. Is The Path Chosen a romance? Some say yes. Some say no. But it certainly is about LOVE. ~ * ~ What people are saying about The Path Chosen: ~ * ~ It's also a fantastic story of two women seeking to find acceptance and finally finding it within themselves. I laughed and cried and held my breath. I will definitely buy this author's next book, too. It was a page turner from the very start...I enjoyed the plot, the humor, the style/method, the thought provoking dialogue.....just enjoyed it all... A great read from start to finish! My emotions followed those of the characters and absorbed me in a way that took me on a roller coaster ride that didn't disappoint. So well written and true to the times and surroundings. Brilliant! Thoroughly enjoyed this book, I liked the way the characters developed as the intriguing story unfolded. Just the right amount of romance in the subplot too made the story all the more readable. Highly recommended! Awesome read! Heart revealing, thought provoking, and just flat out intriguing!” * “ Loved it! Definitely worth it!! Different plot filled with neat nuggets to challenge our thinking. Thank you, Donna for a really enjoyable book to read. The storyline kept me guessing until the last page as to how it would end. I'm looking forward to the next book! I was totally hooked from the first chapter. The paths of two extremely unhappy and depressed women collide, plummeting one into the year 1858 and the other into the year 2015. The dialogue was credible for each time period, well executed plot, and I can tell much research for each time period was properly researched by the author. Add in some suspense, sexual tension, and we have the right amount of chemistry for an intriguing romance. The opportunity to choose the path in life was afforded each woman, and I kept wondering how the story would ultimately unfold. The Path Chosen is a riveting, enthralling, page-turning story. Well done Ms. Driver!” ~ Saundra Staats McLemore - Inspirational Author [she] just walked in and LOVED LOVED LOVED your book; recommended it to several people thinks people in recovery it should be mandatory reading is going to be getting her own copy to re-read (mine is all marked up) -- she calls it more spiritual than love story. still can’t figure out how you kept track of all the subplots Thanks Donna Keevers Driver for this wonderful novel I enjoyed every page and you are right its not just a love story ... ~ * ~ Press HERE to find a preferred link to The Path Chosen~ * ~
Picking a genre for The Path Chosen was not an easy task. I ended up choosing "Women's Fiction" and "Time Travel", because, while I hope men will enjoy this novel, the story is about two women -- one from 2015, the other from 1858 -- who trade places. If you look for my novel on Amazon, Kobo, and other such retailers, you may find it in the 'Romance' section. Neither I, nor my publisher, placed it there. To date, and as far as I can see, my publisher (Desert Breeze Publishing) is the only company to add TPC to the correct genre -- as you can see here: The Path Chosen on Desert Breeze Publishing -- and I am eternally grateful to DBP for doing so. (Actually, I'm eternally grateful to the team at Desert Breeze Publishing for everything they've done for me -- The Path Chosen wouldn't be in print without them and their ongoing encouragement and support. If there has been any mishaps with TPC, it was not their doing, this I know.) I just wanted to add this genre matter here in case you are, or are not, a romance reader. I wanted to make sure you knew what you're paying for. In The Path Chosen, there is a touch of romance, but not what you may expect when purchasing a romance novel. It is a story about love, but, without giving away too much, we're more focused on the state of Anna and Dianna's heart, and all they go through to get to... uh... the place they arrive at come the end of the novel. ;) Whatever category you may find my novel in, I hope you enjoy it. x The publisher. So far, my total earnings for The Path Chosen is $0.00 (that's Australian dollars ;) ), and, as my precious husband has paid for my life -- and much of that for our 6 children -- for the past 24+ years, I won't be asking him to go into greater debt for me. I trust you will understand my dilemma, and forgive me for it. I apologise for any, and all, inconvenience this has/may cost you and your pocket. I also apologise for not being able to send out signed copies of TPC -- or any copies, for that matter. The best I can do re signing, is, if I don't know you in person, I can either send you a signed thank you in an email, or, when I do receive money for TPC, I could send you a postcard. If circumstances change after I earn more than $0, I will let you know. Again, I am sorry about this. xxx A side-note concerning a writer's bank account: A signed contract does not mean instant wealth. Neither does a published novel. A writer puts in many hours, every day, over many months/years to complete a novel and have it published, earning nothing for it as they go, and may not see a cent/penny for all their hard work until after a book is sold. If ever. (Passion drives us on -- or is that obsession? ;) ) Like most authors, I will receive a set percentage for each book sold at the RRP -- which, in my case (if I remember correctly), is 35% per novel sold - be that paperback or eBook. If my book does not earn money, I do not earn money. Following sales, the percentage I earn is tallied monthly, then I may see a cheque -- but only if my percentage rises above ten American dollars. This is why we authors hope and pray you won't 'buy us' from sites that have stolen our work -- because your money goes to the thief, and not to the one who has spent much of their life putting those words on paper. Noting this, I would like to add: This is why we authors have to 'sell ourselves'. If we don't sell, we don't earn. It's that simple. This is why we plead with readers to share a link to our novel if you like us. This is why you will see messages on Facebook, and other such places, saying, "If you like 'my novel', please leave a review' -- if not, as you were... ;) " -- and other such things. Mind you, a writer's prime concern is not money. We do believe there is something in our story that will touch your heart somehow. We do want to connect with you that way. Our hearts touching yours. Well, that's what I want -- money or no money. A writer digs deep into their heart to unleash the passion within. We sort through our hurts, our scars, our fondest moments and memories, our fears, our brokenness, and all that we are, and we usually don't do this just for entertainment purposes. A deep-rooted passion drives us to do so, even when we feel like a complete failure and dread your response. We then use our heart to create a new world, characters, settings, and circumstances, and set it before you in the form of written words, often trembling and doubting our abilities from start to finish and through all the editing and revealing moments. When you read us, you hold more than just a made-up story in your hands; you hold part of our souls. More than that, we, the author, are trusting you, our Reader-Friend, with our heart. We want our hearts to connect. And just so you know, apart from wanting to unburden my husband's shoulders, and to bless our children, my concern isn't money. I don't write for money. It would be nice to receive it, to cover our needs and to bless others with it, and it would be good to have money in the bank to purchase novels and such things for Reader-Friends, but that's not the reason I write. And it's true to say passion drives me to write, yes, but I can do that without you looking. No, what's on my heart above all else when I dig deep into it and rummage through all my scars, fears, hopes, and so on, is you. You are the reason I write. And I do wish to connect my heart to yours through what I write. Blessings to you, my friend. Peace to your soul, love to your heart, and joy to your world. Donna. xxx The Path Chosen
